What the Life Spring Is in Build a Dungeon

Build a Dungeon reverses the usual dungeon crawler setup: you build the dungeon, fill it with monster units and traps, and protect a dungeon crystal from waves of invading heroes. Heroes arrive through a one-way entrance and walk the tiles you have placed toward the crystal, so the pieces you put down decide how long that walk is and what the wave runs into.

A build a dungeon life spring is one of the placeable parts in that catalogue. A recorded Build Mode list shows the entry Life Spring 48x, in the same list as the stone corridor, wooden floor, curved wall, curved corridor, dead end, crossroads, junction, armory, treasure room, dragon nest, graveyard, lava chamber, frost stone wall, wooden barricade, ballista tower, turret, blacksmith and Shrine Tiles. Recorded builds show traps as their own group: spike trap, poison trap, tar pit, bear trap, arrow trap, fire trap, falling rocks, oil and lava floor.

Exploration Guild has not published what the Life Spring does, what it costs, or how many tiles it covers, and neither the official game page nor the update notes describe it. The official page states the game is in Beta and updates regularly, so the part's own entry in the in-game Build Mode list is the authority for its current effect and price. Open that entry before you plan a section of your route around this piece. You can join through the official Roblox page.

How to Roll and Place a Life Spring

Parts come from rolls rather than a fixed shop list. Recorded builds show a roll button in Build Mode: you roll, the game offers a piece, and you spend Coins to keep it. As one recorded session puts it, Dark Souls are used for units while buildings are bought with money, which is why every layout piece, including the build a dungeon life spring, appears with a stock figure next to its name.

  1. Join a server and lay the opening route. The tutorial build asks for a straight pathway from the one-way entrance to the crystal, so the first corridors decide how the rest of the layout fits together.
  2. Roll in Build Mode and watch your Coin balance. Part rolls are paid with Coins; Dark Souls are reserved for monster units.
  3. Read the Life Spring entry before you buy. Its in-game description is the only published source for its effect and price.
  4. Click the piece to pick it up, then place it on a free tile. Recorded builds show occupied tiles refusing placement, and pieces can be picked back up and re-placed.
  5. Finish the layout before you start the wave. Building is disabled while a wave is running.
  6. Check the escape menu after a few waves. It shows your Coins-per-hour and Dark Souls-per-hour, and those figures scale with your highest wave.
Build Mode entry seen in recorded builds Where it goes What recorded builds show
Corridors and floors (stone corridor, curved corridor, wooden floor, crossroads, junction) The route from the one-way entrance to the crystal Heroes move along the tile space you place
Dead ends and decoy branches Off the main route Heroes walk in, turn around and walk back out, which costs them time
Rooms (armory, treasure room, dragon nest, graveyard, lava chamber) Alongside the route or off it A treasure room always pulls heroes toward it
Walls and barricades (curved wall, frost stone wall, wooden barricade) Between tiles you do not want used Monster units cannot attack through a wall, but hero archers can shoot through one
Towers and defensive pieces (ballista tower, turret) Wherever the piece fits in your layout A turret-style piece cannot be used to seal off the crystal
Blacksmith A station for buying weapons Recorded builds show weapons such as a battle axe being bought there for your own character
Traps (spike, poison, tar pit, bear trap, arrow, fire, falling rocks, oil, lava floor) On a corridor or room tile The arrow trap mounts on a wall; a tar pit only slows heroes down
Life Spring A free tile you want to test it on Its effect, cost and coverage are not published

Before you commit Coins to a build a dungeon life spring, run through this check:

  • Open the Life Spring's own Build Mode entry and read its effect and price, because Exploration Guild has not published either.
  • Confirm you are spending Coins on layout pieces and keeping Dark Souls for monster units.
  • Check that the tile is free; recorded builds show occupied tiles refusing placement.
  • Leave the crystal reachable, since the game blocks pieces that would seal it off completely.
  • Finish the build before the wave starts, because building is disabled while heroes are on the map.

Layout Rules That Make a Placed Part Worth Its Tiles

You control the route the wave walks. Recorded builds show heroes following the tile space you place, a dead end sending them back the way they came, and a decoy branch keeping part of the wave away from the crystal; one recorded dungeon built on long decoy routes reached wave 190.

The route can also pay for itself. Potion shops make heroes stop and buy potions, and recorded sessions call that one of the main money makers: heroes buy as many potions as they need no matter how many shops stand along the way. A treasure room is an even more reliable lure, because heroes are guaranteed to go for it. Both are worth placing on the route you already want the wave to walk.

Recorded sessions rate the fire trap highest because it stacks with oil: oil keeps a hero burning for three tiles after they step on it, which stops the fire damage from dropping off, and a lava floor raises fire damage, so a fire trap set on oil and lava hits harder than the same trap alone. A tar pit only slows heroes down, healer-class heroes heal the wave back up, and thief-class heroes disarm traps within a one-block radius of themselves, so a single line of traps can simply be walked through.

Tip

Recorded builds show heroes pausing for a couple of seconds at a potion shop to buy potions. A shop on the route you want the wave to take therefore works as a lure and as income at the same time.

Warning

Do not judge a new part on one wave. Failing a run restarts from the most recent checkpoint, and recorded builds show a checkpoint at wave 10, so test an unknown piece such as the Life Spring between waves, watch what the wave does, and pick the piece back up if it earns nothing.

Roll Milestones While You Build Your Part Collection

Recorded builds report four community milestones on the roll counter. Exploration Guild has not published drop-rate percentages or a pity table, so treat these figures as player-recorded checkpoints and confirm the current values on the in-game roll screen.

Legendary Units

Community-recorded milestone at 80 rolls.

Mythic Units

Community-recorded milestone at 160 rolls.

Secret Units

Community-recorded milestone at 300 rolls.

Divine Units

Community-recorded milestone at 2,000 rolls.

Recorded sessions also note that monster units are much harder to pull than building blocks and room pieces, so a stock of layout parts such as the Life Spring grows faster than a roster of high-rarity units. Update 6 notes describe advanced auto-roll filtering for managing duplicates, and the filters available to you are listed in the roll interface.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Life Spring do in Build a Dungeon?

Exploration Guild has not published its effect, and recorded builds do not show a full description, so open Build Mode in game and read the Life Spring's own entry. That entry is the current authority for what the part does and what it costs.

How do I get a build a dungeon life spring?

Roll for dungeon parts in Build Mode. Part rolls are paid with Coins, Dark Souls are spent on monster units, and duplicates build up the stock figure shown next to each part.

Can I move a Life Spring after placing it?

Yes. Recorded builds show pieces being picked back up and placed again. Move it between waves, because building is disabled while a wave is running.

Why will the game not let me place my Life Spring?

Recorded builds show placement being refused on occupied tiles, and the game also blocks pieces that would seal off the crystal completely. Try another free tile along the route.

Are drop rates for the build a dungeon life spring published?

No. There is no official drop-rate percentage or pity table for parts or units; the only figures reported by players are the roll milestones above. Check the in-game roll screen for the current numbers.
